Copper - A 'Living Finish'
Copper belongs to a family of metals that has what is known as a
'living finish'.
Left untreated, copper interacts with its environment and naturally
deepens in tone over time. As it deepens, it passes through a
range of colors beginning with a pinkish, salmon-like color and
progresses through a series of russet browns until it stabilizes to
a final deep, rich tone. The speed of change and the depth of
its final color are determined by a variety of factors that work in
unison and is
totally unique to each individual piece of copper.
An 'Aged' Look
Most of our copper sinks, bathtubs and accessories are completed with one of
our five proprietary, patina finishes. Application of the
patina actually 'helps' copper along in its darkening process by
accelerating then slowing (and in some instances, completely
arresting), copper's natural progression in color.
Patina finishes give our kitchen sinks, bathroom sinks, vessel sinks, bath tubs and accessories a unique, antique-like or 'aged'
appearance, even though our products are absolutely brand new.
We Guarantee Our Finishes
Using processes that have been perfected through the years, our
patina finishes are mixed and applied by hand, to each piece individually.
The finish is an acid-based mixture that is actually 'fired' into
the sink, tub or accessory, causing the patina to become embedded into the material.
Our patina finishes last and are warranted against
fading or rubbing off, as long as the item is
properly maintained
and cared for.
Patina Color Variations
Because the actual piece of copper used in each piece 'takes' the patina finish differently, no two
kitchen sinks, bathroom
sinks, vessel sinks, bath tubs or accessories ever turn out exactly
alike. When completed, each piece ends up with a patina that falls within a range of color
tones (from lighter to darker), within one of our five different
patina finish categories outlined below.
Patina colorations are influenced by the material, the temperature (both
climatic and of the piece itself), and by the Artist that mixes,
applies and
works with the patina. It is the combination of these elements
that ultimately dictates the product's final tone and guarantees
you always receive an original item with a
beauty and tone uniquely its own.

'Natural'
(natural) |
Natural ('Partially Oxidized')
Finish - DISCONTINUED
Items finished in this manner are subject to a
continuous and natural process of oxidation. They begin their journey with
a classic, 'pinkish', salmon-like color and 'migrate' to a
darker color and tone over time. Color and tone changes will
be on-going and will most likely be noticeable at once. The
progression of oxidation and the final color/tone will differ from
piece to piece and depend on geographical location and local
humidity factors. |

'Dorada'
(gold) |
Gold ('Dorada') Iridescent Patina
- DISCONTINUED
Our exclusive, this 'gold-ish' patina finish gives
the item more of a contemporary look and feel. After applying
the patina, the piece is coated with a light, lacquer finish that literally
dances as it reflects the color schemes of the surrounding
environment. This finish will not change in color over time,
however you will need to re-apply the lacquer coating from
time-to-time. Let your eye be your guide. When the
finish begins to dull, it's time to apply a light coat of lacquer.
